THE RESEARCH

Focus QUESTION

RELEVANCE

Is it important to maintain the identity of a Queen’s student after graduation? Does Homecoming influence this?

About Our Research

We are interested in looking into whether or not Queen’s University Homecoming might influence the Film & Media student identity and how this may possibly reinforce alumni’s loyalty to the school.

As 3rd year Stage & Screen Studies students, we are preparing to graduate from university in just over a year. As future alumni, we thought it would be important to understand our role moving forward as we connect to Queen’s University Homecoming. We have come to recognize that no one person will participate in this cultural event in the exact same way, and clearly represented between the difference between our own participation. We wanted to better understand the overlap between these happenings and whether or not we could connect our experience to one particular identity we maintain during the event.

Through analyzing our gathered research, comparison to course content, and final reflections, we believe looking into Film & Media Identity at Queen's Homecoming will provide relevant insight moving forward for us and other students in a similar position.
